It’s Summer and you know what that means… Angels baseball!

May 22nd, 2010

The one thing I absolutely love about Summer other then the beautiful weather down here in Southern California is Anaheim Angels baseball and to be frank with just baseball period. The crack of the bat, the beautiful green grass and the pop of the catchers mitt. I’m a huge fan of the Angels and this year I’m all decked out in my Angels apparel.

The Angels are looking good this year and it looks like they’ll be challenging for the AL West crown again this year. The team is a little different this year… they got rid of my favorite player Vladimir Guerrero (I retired my Vladdy Angels jersey and hung it up in my game room – one less piece of Angels apparel the wife says…) and they also lost John Lackey and Chone Figgins through free agency. To replace them they got Hideki Matsui and a closer from the Tigers Fernando Rodney. I like the team but it’s the weakest team they’ve had in quite some time…

The pitching staff is without an ace really but they do have 5 solid quality starting pitchers. IN the bullpen they also have a couple of guys with closer experience and they should also be getting Scot Shields back so they could have a devastating bullpen.

Offensively I have to admit I like the pick up of Hideki Matsui to replace Vladdy. Matsui is a hard working guy and that’s the kind of guy the Angels need in their clubhouse. This is the kind of guy that gets angry when he misses games due to injuries. They have plenty of punch with Juan Rivera, Torii Hunter and Kendry Morales and they also have patient, contact hitters like Bobby Abreu and Howie Kendrick. It’s a solid line up from top to bottom.

I’m absolutely pumped for this season. Management is going to have pull of some kind of trade because I don’t see the Angels challenging the ebst teams in the American League with their existing squad.

I’ve Taken Up A New Hobby…Paintball

April 1st, 2010

So a new buddy of mine that I made through work got me into the sport or hobby of paintball. He and I went paintballing a few times at a local paintball facility and I fell in love with the sport but I hated the rental guns because they sucked. So I had to bite the bullet and bought myself a nice Tippman at used paintball guns, which is an online paintball gear shop…

It’s really a sweet paintball gun… I never woulda bought it myself but my bud recommended it to me when I told him I was interested in buying a paintball gun. It seems really well put together, it works like a dream and I have already seen a number of upgrades that I’d like to purchase once I pay for this thing.

Paintball has really been good for me because it’s given me an outlet to get away from all the daily stress that I’ve been dealing with lately. When I’m playing paintball I don’t really thing of anything else and that’s what I really like about it. That and the huge adrenaline rush I get when playing the game.

I decided to go out and get myself a paintball gun because my bud gave me his old paintball mask and I figured what the heck you know? I’ve been working my tail off I deserve a little something for myself right?

So anyhow I’m really excited because this weekend we’re traveling up a bit to check out a nearby paintball facility that’s supposed to be pretty awesome.

Wow It Just Gets More Unbelievable By The Day

March 21st, 2010

I’m posting this as I’m watching our United States Congress pass a healthcare bill that most people in this country don’t want passed. What’s really getting me is they don’t know what’s in the bill because they have to pass it first to see what’s in it… huh?

That’s what Nancy Pelosi, the speaker for the House of Representatives, said when asked what was in the healthcare bill. The reason we don’t know what’s in the bill is because the House used some shenanigans called Deem and Pass

While I agree that something needed to be done about healthcare I think this is BS! I know one thing my rates are going to go up and I can barely afford to pay them now. More and more I’m thinking the government and Obama just want me to stay at home and not do anything but wait for my checks from them to arrive…

Talking Politics Is Disheartening

February 1st, 2010

I’ve been reading up a lot lately after heated discussions over the holidays about politics and such and I think it’s making my blood pressure go up…

The other day somebody enlightened me to the fact that a good chunk of our tax dollars go to union pensions and some of these pensioners are getting like 90% of their regular work pay + full health care benefits. I was arguing with my sister who is a teacher that public sector employees get a lot more then people like myself working for the private. Her husband joins the argument because he’s a pensioner too – he’s a cop!

I hate to say it but these folks are out of touch! They have no idea how bad some people have it right now… and to make matters worse they say it’s because people in the public sector typically have higher educations and while that may be and is true there are still a lot of folks in the private sector that have college degrees and can’t get a job. And they haven’t been able to get a job for sometime now.

And the worst part of everything is when you hear about how these pensions and benefits were negotiated… in back rooms deals between the “paid for by the unions” legislature and the unions themselves. It’s ridiculous really. It’s the same way our congress and elected officials sit down every year and give themselves raises.

I better go I feel my blood pressure going up…

Best Wishes to All

December 24th, 2009

Just wanted to come on here and wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I’ll be spending the holidays with my family and I’m really looking for to some time with the family just relaxing around the house, eating and playing video games with the boys and watching whatever may be on the television.

It’s been a rough year but iIm greatful for everyone and everything that I have in my life. As my wife and I were talking last night we both figured that in life it’s not what you have that makes the quality of your life but the people you have around you. I love my wife and kids and although things have been rocky this year I still feel very blessed to have such a wonderful family when many people I come across just seem to be absolutely miserable!

Anyhow like I said I just wanted to come by and wish everybody Happy Holidays (I have to be politically correct I’ve been reminded). Wish you all the best and I’ll see you all next year!

Things Are Getting Better Little By Little

December 17th, 2009

Little by little things are getting better for me…

Haven’t been able to get a job yet but I have a bunch of independent contractor gigs that are beginning to bear some fruit of which the worst one is delivering newspaper in the early morning… this has to be one of the worst jobs in existence but I’m grateful that I have a job and that I didn’t lose my house like I thought I would.

My favorite has been the construction jobs I’ve been getting. I Like being outside and i”m learning a lot about cement, masonry and carpentry work and I hope I can pursue one of those areas a little more in the future if the construction economy gets better.

I was talking to one of my buddies the other day and he was talking about possibly buying a house and fixing it up so we can turn around and flip it and I have to admit that sounds like a lot of fun. Sure making some money sounds great but just the thought of taking an old house that needs some TLC and fixing it up to sell it just sounds like something I could really get into…

Been exercising more and sleeping better lately and just trying to get and keep myself in better shape lately.

I’m Back

November 26th, 2009

Guys I know I’ve been gone for a while now but I’m back now…

I’ve spent the majority of my time the past few eeks out looking for a job… It’s crazy but there just doesn’t seem to be any jobs out there right now… It used to be when I opened up the classifieds section there would be 10 pages of ads for jobs and now there’s a lot of there’s one full page ona Sunday!

Anywhoo… I don’t want to depress you with my tales of woe so the good news is that I started spending more times looking for other ways to earn some money and I happened to land several indepent contractor jobs.

It’s a pain in the butt because of all the extra work with taxes and paperwork but it’s been steady work so far so I’ll take it!

So I’m glad to be back and I hope to be posting soon again and more consistently in the future.
